Teresa Nousiainen, Tournament Director of Kings of Tallinn, explains what to expect from this year’s Nordic’s best poker festival, what are the things that keep players coming back for more every year and what will be different this time around.
Kings of Tallinn, taking place in the fantastic Hilton Tallinn Park & Olympic Park Casino, has been all about providing players with a good, fun and well-run poker week from the beginning of its five-year history.
New shorter Main Event
We put a lot of effort in providing players with the best possible poker tournament experience. We collect player feedback and before sitting down to work on a new schedule we go through it all and usually ask players one more time for any additional hopes and wishes. And that’s how we end up with the final full schedule.
So we listened to the players and made one important change and that is to start the Main Event on Thursday whereas before it started a day earlier. We knew that Main Event could run smoothly also as a four-day event so this change adds even more variety and options for other days and allows to join the festival also later in the week. Another thing new is that Kings of Tallinn Main Event will play with a big blind ante since this year.
More time for side action
Our 2019 festival schedule follows the tradition that we have had from the beginning: players can play the Main Event and still have some fun time in the evening. For example have a dinner in the city, play cash games or join in on nightly tournaments, events that start 9 pm or later, or even a little earlier because we have considered our main event players when setting the late registration times for events starting at 7 or 8 pm.
By the way, if there is a two-day event in the schedule on a same day with the main event, the final day for it starts at 9 pm, when the main event day has finished. This is a rule that always gets good feedback from the players.
What else is new?
Each year we try to bring in something absolutely new, too. This time it is called The Pot limit Omaha Fusion - Two Cards Dealt as Initial Deal, Third Card Added After Flop, Fourth Card on the Turn. 8 Handed, Unlimited Re-Entry, event #24 on Friday.
Also new is the Kings Of Tallinn €550 Championship, unlimited re-rntry, two day NL Texas Hold’em event on Wednesday.
We’ve tried to make sure that there is something for everyone, no matter whether you prefer bigger or smaller buy-ins and have also tried to make sure we have a good amount of satellites and flips so that everyone gets a chance to enter a bigger event.
More fun than ever
What sets Kings of Tallinn apart is our Team Challenge where everyone is welcome to register a 4-player team and the team with the most points by the end of the festival wins a a prize worth battling for. Don’t worry if you don’t have any teammates yet, just show up before the first break of the main event and we’ll put you in contact with teams that are missing players. This year you can start collecting team points from the celebrity special starting at 7 pm on Tuesday.
As always, the best poker massage team Thee Best Hands will be there to get you relaxed during long days at the tables. This year we’ll also have a larger than ever players lounge to hang out in between of events.
And all this fun gets an official start already on Tuesday, 19 February with cocktails & fun, meet & greet at the ground floor of the festival venue with Finnish singer Kim Herold performing to players.
See you all there for the greatest Kings of Tallinn of all times!
